Sweet Tahini Turmeric Sauce
I have to be honest here, anything turmeric used to gross me out big time. Any sauce, latte, or juice with this vile yellow substance just look repulsive. I always thought, how and why do people consume that?
After researching the health benefits, it became very clear to me why turmeric powder was taking over the health and wellness game.
For starters, there have been several studies proving that turmeric contains anti inflammatory properties. The Arthritis Foundation in particular found that turmeric might reduce the aggravation that those with arthritis feel throughout their joints. After years of riding horses, my joints could use all the anti inflammatory help they can get.
This miracle spice is also thought to improve liver function and digestion because of its antioxidant properties. After reading about all of the amazing things a simple spice can do for our bodies, I was ready to see how I could include turmeric into my diet as much as possible.
To clarify, I love fueling my body with food that’s going to be beneficial and not harmful, but I am not willing to sacrifice the taste. In other words, you won’t catch me eating unseasoned steamed broccoli for anything. I wholeheartedly believe that healthy food can taste just as amazing as it is for your body.
Which brings me to this amazing sweet tahini turmeric sauce I recently whipped up. I’m a big fan of tahini so I thought, what better way to slyly sneak more turmeric into my diet than mixing it with my favorite condiment?
I throw this sauce on basically everything, but I especially love creating bowls full of sauteed kale, chickpeas or blackbeans, sweet potatoes, and then topping off my creating with this sauce. It gives me flashbacks to Chic Fil A’s honey mustard sauce and it’s heavenly.
Ingredients:
- ½ cup tahini
- Juice of 1 lemon
- ¼ cup of water (depending on the consistency that you like)
- 1 TBSP olive oil
